Where in Devon #6 ?

As a busy oven cleaner, servicing the whole of Devon and parts of Somerset, we get to see some beautiful places. So we thought we would run a little competition from time to time - we'll post a picture of one of the locations that we've recently visited, along with a clue or two. So, where were we this week?
This village was a Saxon settlement with central square and parish church to the side on a sloping site. The name of this village is thought to derive from 'Offa' a Saxon leader who had a farm on the River Culm.
There is an unusual wooden structure in the Market Place, known as the Shambles (bench) marking the site of the ancient market. It is thought that the original bench was used for trading of serges for which this village was famous in the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries as part of the cottage woollen industry.
