Over the Easter holidays, on a rare day off from oven cleaning (!) The Oven Cleaning Man clan went for a walk near Dunsford, on Exmoor. We walked alongside the river Teign as it wound through a steep-sided valley of oak, ash and birch, climbing to the top of Dunsford for great views across the moor. We were delighted to see the daffodils looking cheery and spring like, and also to see (and smell) an abundance of wild garlic, which forms the basis for today's Foodie Friday. Cl

Foodie Friday: ANZAC Biscuits
Last Wednesday was Anzac Day - the day on which, every year Australia and New Zealand honour members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (Anzac) who lost their lives in foreign conflicts. Originally started to mark the anniversary of Anzac troops entering the battle at Gallipoli in the First World War, the scope of this national day of remembrance has since been broadened out of respect for those killed during the Second World War and on subsequent peacekeeping miss

Foodie Friday: Rhubarb Crumble
Did you know - rhubarb is a vegetable (it's related to sorrel and dock) ? Rhubarb grows in two crops. Foodie Friday: Baked Apples
January is often the month where we feel obliged to think about eating healthily, cutting back after the Christmas excesses, and yet, it really isn't the right time of year - who really feels like a salad and a smoothie when the wind is cutting through your coat, and you are going to work and coming home in the dark. Not us, that's for sure. But, in the interests of striking a balance we thought we would share this recipe for baked apples - a delicious pudding that is warming

Foodie Friday: Neeps and Tatties
Burns Night this year is Thursday 25 January. Whilst there isn't much connection between Robert Burns and Devon (although he did write a poem entitled "The Banks of the Devon", at this time of year, we'll take any excuse for a celebration we can get (and a tot, or two, of whisky to keep out the cold!). So, this week's Foodie Friday brings you a recipe for Neeps and Tatties (swede and potatoes), the traditional accompaniment to Haggis. It's traditional to throw a Burns Night S

Foodie Friday: Beef and Mushroom Stew
One of the comments we often get once we've finished an oven clean, is that the oven looks too good to cook in! We greatly appreciate the compliment, so we thought, for the first recipe of our Foodie Friday collection we would share a tried and tested and much enjoyed (in The Oven Cleaning Man's house) recipe for a warming Beef and Mushroom Stew that can be cooked on top of the hob. This time of year calls for comfort food - we need lots of veggies and nutrients to fight off
